It has some interesting lore but pales in comparison to other ar<br><br> <br>The kingdom itself is massive and filled with various challenges. Be it battling bosses, exploring Hallownest’s various environments, or performing platforming challenges; there are quite a few things the player can do once they beat the game. Most of them involve some form of combat or platforming, but that is pretty standards for a Metroidvania like Hollow Knig<br><br> <br>Although it should be mentioned that the player can engage in "overcharming" if they really need the effect of that one additional charm. As the name implies, overcharming occurs when the player forcefully equips an additional charm that goes beyond the player’s notch limit. This triggers the overcharm effect, which doubles the amount of damage the Knight receives from all sources. It’s a risky move, but the player does have the option to resort to it. Now normally the game returns a charm to the player’s inventory if there are not enough notch slots, but if it constantly selected it will trigger the overcharmed eff<br><br> <br>This is a bit of a cheap tactic but it is still available. Did you know that so long as the player doesn’t sit on a bench most enemies don’t respawn ? If that sounds like something the player can exploit to make this quest easier, that is because it can. All it requires is the player to spend some extra time clearing their intended travel path. The end result with be a road mostly devoid of enemies. But even though the player has a mostly clear path, they should still be cautious of environmental hazards and enemies that may still be aro<br><br> <br>The player has already noticed this, but all throughout the kingdom there are grubs that have been captured in glass containers. They can be found in every region and for each grub saved the Grubfather in the Forgotten Crossroads will give the Knight a reward. These rewards can include geo, charms, relics, and m<br><br> <br>This area is important as somewhat of a central terminal but is also home to a shopkeeper, bosses, and its own challenges. After certain points in the game, the Forgotten Crossroads will become the Infected Crossroads, fill with the Infection, and become much more danger<br><br>This happened to myself recently with two games that I greedily bought without a second thought — Vampyr and Hollow Knight when it released on Switch . Both games I was immensely looking forward to and with both I hit the same wall. No matter how often I tried playing, every attempt to pick up the controller was met with my mind split between disinterest and intrigue. It becomes hard to tell if the brain is responding in a Pavlovian way for the shiny new toy or there is actual enthusiasm buried under the loss of focus for both games. Luckily it was the latter. There are, of course, times where a game is just not for you, but it was a relief knowing it was just a matter of time.<br><br> <br>But regardless of the number of notches the Knight has, this notch system forces players to pick and choose which charms to equip at any one time.
